TERRIBLE – avoid at all costs

AVOID this shop at all costs…

If i can rate this experience 0 stars, I would…

I went in yesterday evening with my mum to have a look at wedding dresses, upon arrival the gentleman who was “helping” us in a very condescending manner asked us which brand designer we were interested in- nope, no question about when my big way was or what cuttings I liked at all…

I’m sorry I wasn’t aware that I had to do previous research about which brands they carried at all- I thought it was their job as sales people to explain what they carried and the characteristics of the different designers they carried…

I explained I want a mermaid cut dress that is body hugging and I don’t like too much bling and that a high neckline doesn’t look good with my broad shoulders.

He begins pulling out dresses that were mermaid shapes but all crew necklines… he says you can order this brand name dress in a v neck instead (no idea what brand it is)

Next, he tells us that it’s $500 to try on 3 dresses… which is ridiculous given that it’s usually 3 dresses free and then additional cost later – I’m serious about finding the right dress so I wanted to see if I can find 3 potentials that I would be keen on buying , I would pay to try them on….

He tells me to try on the crew neck line — I said it’s not what I wanted but he insisted that I try on the shape….

I’m sorry, but I’m supposed to pay to try something on and IMAGINE what it looks like? I thought that was the whole reason why you try on clothes anyways? So you don’t have to imagine what it looks like?

So I proceeded and forcefully picked 2…. I said I cannot pick the third one. he told me to try on one another mermaid that looked pretty much the same as the first two despite the fact that I said again and again that I want to try on a different cut of dress and i wanted to try on the one that was on display – he insisted I’m a mermaid person (How well do you know me?)

Bare in mind, the whole time, he didn’t have a “helpful attitude” at all, he made me feel like I was in the way and he literally just said – to me oh this dress then- oh and this one- and this one.” Took none of the feedback I had given him about what I like or disliked at all…!!

So, I asked him whether they had photos for reference of other dresses, he said no and the rest of the dresses are in the warehouse…. (how am I supposed to pick the best 3 to try on?)

So I thought if I could pick three I really wanted to try and pay $500 just IN CASE if their dresses had the perfect fit (sometimes u cannot tell when it’s on the rack) BAD MOVE ….

I tried it on and the gentleman insisted they can make so many changes to it – it raised questions for me because normally with these branded dresses , I was told they cannot make drastic changes to it unless if it came that way from the brand. (So if they have good service it would only be this- but he still kept his condescending tone the entire time)

I told him I liked the shape of the first dress but I like the fabric of the second dress- and he said they can make it for me (really?) but I said I still wasn’t sure that this is “the dress” for me

He said the dress is around $50k- – which I thought was probably around the right price range if it’s the quality that they claim it is…

Next, my mom asks – if we come back and buy the dress later , the $500 gets deducted right?

He said we only get the $500 deduced if we make a decision today and pay a $5000 deposit! WHAT?

The entire process I was in there for less for 30 minutes- and he wants me to drop $5k and lock myself in to ONLY buying a dress here?

I said I also like another dress from elsewhere and he said “we have the most brands , if you don’t find something here, you won’t find it anywhere, so you can make $5k and then we will find the dress after ” – WTF

Unless you like being bullied and paying $5k to lock yourself in to ONE place to buy a dress, please stay away at all costs from this place and LMR and DBR (all the same group)

  1. I had the same bad experience, but I am unfortunate enough to have been coerced to buy a gown that I was not 100 % happy with. I have a feeling that we are talking about the same salesman, his first name starts with B….?
