If you haven’t heard, September and October are now the most popular months to say “I do.” And the way this trend is going, we’re going to go ahead and guess that November will be next. It’s really no surprise why, after all! A fall wedding most likely involves not-too-hot, not-too-cold weather, seasonal cocktails (like apple cider!), and décor elements in the some of prettiest shades of the rainbow (orange, red, yellow, and more).

A wedding this time of year is also fun because you have the opportunity to use other décor elements besides traditional flowers. (Although, don’t get us wrong, we love flowers.) That’s right, with the fall foliage in season and items like pumpkins, gourds, and fresh fruits (apples, pears, pomegranates) at the market, why not utilize them in your fall wedding décor? We found plenty of ways to do just that—from leaf-embellished escort cards and pumpkin centerpieces to calligraphed pomegranates used as name cards.

And beyond fruits and veggies, we have some unexpected fall wedding color ideas, too. Take this: We’ve seen a rise of dark hues like purple, dark brown, and even black (hear us out!) in fall wedding décor. And while this sounds like a surprising choice when used in wedding décor, it really shouldn’t be. These palettes can easily elevate and modernize the season’s traditional rustic look with a few candlesticks, a tablecloth, or even some small blooms. See what we mean below but know that we won’t think you’re crazy if you exchange those white candlesticks for black. (Chic, right?!)

With that being said, it’s time for you to get to scrolling. We have 32 fall wedding ideas below that are sure to convince you to celebrate with the season’s foliage at your back—and with plenty of warm beverages, cozy blankets, and romantic candlelight at your table. Check them out!

An Arbor of Fall Foliage

This ceremony altar is absolutely the definition of a fall wedding, don’t you think? We love how the organic, colorful structure blends into the grass below and the natural golden foliage behind.

Leaf Escort Cards

The delicate leaves look perfect against a simple white escort card, especially when mixed in shades of green, brown, and gold.

Cozy Seating Arrangements

Cozy Seating Arrangements

Tell your guests to get comfortable by putting a blanket on the back of each chair. These orange hued ones are especially striking in this setting because they match the water glasses on the tables. (Repeating a bold color is always a good idea!)

Spiked Apple Cider

Spiked Apple Cider

We believe that every wedding needs a signature cocktail—and that every fallwedding should have a spiked apple cider (note: it can be served warm or cold). This one looks especially yummy thanks to the cinnamon rim and rosemary garnish.

Pumpkin Centerpieces

Pumpkin Centerpieces

Honey, we’ve found the great pumpkin! This mixture of mini ones (in shades of blue, gold, orange, and white) balances perfectly with these matte china and antique-looking charger sets by Casa de Perrin.

A Backdrop of Branches

A Backdrop of Branches

This ceremony structure is a great inspo for those of you planning a fall wedding indoors. This example looks especially nice as the warm hue coordinates with the worn brick walls and light-filled windows.

A Rustic Ceremony Setting

A Rustic Ceremony Setting

Who doesn’t want to say “I do” here? This rustic setting feels elevated thanks to the bench seating (with blankets), greenery ceremony structure, and greenery wreath up above.

A Greenery Garland

A Greenery Garland

Top your average farm table with an oversized garland of greenery for a pop of color down the middle. We love how this one blends in with the natural wood setting.

Mini Pie Favors

Mini Pie Favors

When most people think of fall holidays like Thanksgiving, they think of pies. That’s why a mini confection is the perfect seasonal wedding favor. Take this example, which comes with a takeout box, fork, and thank you note.

Personalized Thank You Notes

We love the idea of thanking each guest with a special, handwritten note. (It is the season for being grateful, after all!). These calligraphed notes are guaranteed to make an impression with everyone, especially when paired with a fresh apple favor.

Mini Semi-Naked Cakes

Mini Semi-Naked Cakes

Semi-naked cakes will be in style every season but they look especially fall-like when covered in a dark caramel drizzle, blackberries, and dark flower buds.

Table with Flowers

Cotton Details

Bundles of cotton seem to go perfectly with the rustic vibe of fall weddings; however, this lucite display feels decidedly modern when used on a rooftop in Brooklyn.

A Unique Bar

A Unique Bar

Consider making the bar a focal point of the room—it is the most popular spot, after all. We love one covered in dried flowers this time of year as it’s organic, stunning, and, most importantly, unexpected!

Reception Table

Black Candles

Candlelight adds warmth to any environment, which is something you’re going to want if it’s chilly outside. The warm light pops against dark colors like these black candlesticks, black menus, and burgundy blooms.

A Picnic Table

A Picnic Table

Cozy up at this picnic table with furry pillows, wooden chargers, calligraphed menus, and décor (candles! flowers! vases!) in the season’s warmest hues.

A Prosecco Cart

Say “yes” to a Prosecco cart! Your guests are guaranteed to love the idea, especially if you find a rustic rental and cover it in orange details like flowers, corn, and pumpkins.

Custom Invitation Suite

Dark-Hued Invites

One creative couple created their own invitation suite using black paper stock and brown envelopes. The gold font and custom motif elevate the look, which we think is perfect for a modern-meets-rustic fall wedding.

Fig Cake Toppings

This simple, two-tired cake is lined with dried figs, and we’re simply obsessed. The result is modern, organic, and totally chic. (Not to mention: sweet!)

A Wooden Escort Card Display

This statement display of wood feels rustic and dramatic at the same time. It’s perfect for any season, but it’s just right for fall when accessorized with baskets of apples and red blooms.

Black-and-Gold Details

Elevate your tablescape with unexpected accents! We’re naming black as the new color of the season, as seen here with the pomegranates at each place setting, the tall candlesticks, and even the black feathers in the middle centerpiece. See, this color can look striking when paired with gold—with not a gothic-vibe in sight!

A Pop of Pomegranate

This pomegranate name card holder feels so very holiday! Put one of these at each place setting, add some vintage-inspired rentals, and top with a calligraphed card. The resulting table will feel as if you’ve set the scene for an intimate family dinner party.

Berry-Colored Flowers

Berry-Colored Flowers

While pale pink flowers don’t typically scream “Fall!” they do when paired with a darker bloom. We like the look of this arrangement because it still lets the larger, lighter blooms shine.

Marigold Floral Accents

Marigold Floral Accents

If you haven’t heard, marigold is the color of the season. With an flower installation like this (use it as your ceremony backdrop!), you can easily add the trendy hue to your wedding décor and wardrobe while you’re at it.

A Hanging-Tree Installation

Forget your average hanging installation when you can have one hang from an actual tree! This display is cool because it blends with the environment while also adding that something extra.

One Fabulous Fall Bouquet

Do up your organic bouquet in colors of the season. This beauty features flowers in shades of red, white, pale pink, and yellow—plus accents of actual fall leaves.

Modern Mauve Linens

Modern Mauve Linens

Again, you don’t typically think pink this time of year, but we’re really into the idea of pairing a feminine hue with a darker one, as seen in the above photo. And the gold accents, black candlesticks, and unique glassware are just added inspo!

A Simple Buttercream Cake

A Simple Buttercream Cake

Pair your sweet, simple cake with a bundle of blooms (and leaves!). We love how this design is off-center, making the whole thing look perfectly imperfect.

A Dark Tablecloth

A Dark Tablecloth

If you’re doing a black-tie dinner, why not try a black tablecloth, too? This one lets the white tableware and colorful florals pop. And we can guarantee it’s even more romantic once those candlesticks are lit.

Unique Textures

Nothing says fall like a nice cognac-colored leather. Use this texture on your menu (this one is by Yonder Design ) and then pair it with a cool napkin holder, like the bone example shown here. Also, note how the burlap runner looks surprisingly chic in this set-up!

The Perfect Getaway Ride!

The Perfect Getaway Ride!

Embrace the traditional rustic-ness of a fall wedding with your exit. This vintage truck (decorated with burlap pillows, a greenery garland, and strings of cans) makes for one pretty photo op.
